It only takes 2,500 members to protect a decade of free tools: 630+ of them, used over 50 million times, and relied on by everyone who uses MDApp.
For ten years, we never had to ask for anything. But the web is changing fast for small, independent sites like ours, so now we're asking, and I'd love you by our side for what comes next. The Dispatch, in your inbox every month, is our thank-you.
For years, a handful of tech giants have decided what reaches people through search and social feeds. Now AI answers, built on our work, sit where MDApp used to appear. Fewer people reach us, so the ad income that funded us keeps shrinking. Members make up the difference: no paywall, every tool free for those who need it.
News from behind the desk, a say in what comes next, and access to one of the limited 2,500 copies of each issue. It's our thank-you, as a beautifully laid-out PDF to read, print or keep, sent to you every month.
No paywall and no login, for you and the next person.
Checked against the latest guidance, year after year.
With a say in what we spotlight and build next.
Still wondering? Write to us at dispatch@mdapp.co and we'll be happy to help.
Securely through Stripe. You’ll get an email confirmation when you first sign up. If you need subscription receipts please email us at dispatch@mdapp.co. If you'd like to claim it as a work expense, it's worth checking with your employer.
Yes, anytime. Your pass runs until it ends, and you can start a membership whenever you like.
Absolutely. MDApp is used by clinicians, students, researchers, patients and carers, and the Dispatch is written for all of them. If you can't chip in right now, that's fine too. MDApp stays free for you either way.
We’re sorry to hear this. Reply to any email that brought you the Dispatch or write to us at dispatch@mdapp.co and will process your cancellation.
Just reply to any Dispatch email and we'll send it again. Every issue you've received is yours to keep.
No. MDApp works exactly as it does now, with no login. Your membership just means the Dispatch lands in your inbox each month, and you get to vote on what we build next.
No. It's a membership, and you get something real for it: the Dispatch, every month. What it pays for is keeping MDApp going and free for everyone.
Because the Dispatch is written for the 2,500 who keep MDApp free. Every member gets their own copy. The proceeds go into keeping MDApp running: checking every tool against the latest guidance, keeping the site fast and free to use, and building the new tools, including those that members vote for.
Every member still counts. Each one is part of what keeps MDApp as it is. We'll keep going for as long as we can, and a paywall stays our very last resort.
Until we reach 2,500, yes. The ads still help carry us there. Once we do, they go for everyone, members included.

For ten years, we never had to ask for anything. But the web is changing fast for small, independent sites like ours, so now we're asking. A pass helps us every bit as much while it runs, and each Dispatch issue sent to you is our thank-you. Pick whatever feels right. I'm grateful either way.

Both votes, the reveal and early access, like any member.
Still wondering? Write to us at dispatch@mdapp.co and we'll be happy to help.
Never. You pay once, your issues arrive, and the pass ends. We'll send one email before your last issue in case you'd like to carry on, and that's it.
Not towards the counter. The 2,500 tracks ongoing monthly members, since that's what lets MDApp stand on its own. A pass still funds the same work and gets you the same Dispatch while it runs, and you can switch to membership anytime to be counted.
Straight away. The first issue lands as soon as you pay, then each new issue arrives on the first Tuesday of the month until your pass runs out.
Your last issue arrives and the pass simply stops. You keep every issue. If you'd like to carry on, you can take another pass or become a monthly member.
A monthly membership lets us plan ahead, so it carries the lower price. A pass gives you freedom instead: pay once, with nothing to cancel. You get the same Dispatch either way.
Just reply to any Dispatch email and we'll send it again. Every issue you've received is yours to keep.

Rather than put the tools behind a paywall, we started the Dispatch: a way for the people who use MDApp to keep our team going, and to be part of where it heads next.
I'm not ready to give up what MDApp has stood for all these years: trustworthy tools, free and open to anyone who needs them. And the people who take part are what make sure I don't have to.
